Cowboys Writer Suggests Wild Potential NFL Draft Strategy

Cowboys, NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys are heading into the 2023 NFL Draft with quite a few directions they could choose to go. Jerry Jones and company are looking to get back to the Super Bowl and need to add more talent to accomplish that goal. It will be very interesting to see what they end up doing.

With that in mind, the Cowboys have to feel good about how they have built their roster over the past couple of years. They have a great offense with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb leading the way, and even acquired wide receiver Brandin Cooks via trade this offseason. Ezekiel Elliott has left town, but Tony Pollard is an exciting young running back.

One Cowboys’ writer has an idea that would shock the entire fan base. He laid out his strategy that Dallas should consider in the upcoming draft.

Currently 29 years old, the Cowboys should draft Dak’s successor. The 2023 NFL Draft is loaded with many NFL-ready quarterbacks. Compared to last year’s draft, 2023 is stacked with multiple quarterbacks expected to be taken in the first round.

Moving forward, the writer continued to state that the Cowboys aren’t going to take one in the first round. However, there are a few options that they could choose from later on.

Among those potential options in the later rounds are Max Duggan, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and Hendon Hooker. Hooker was the one option that was far and away the best choice, according to the writer.

Acquiring a new quarterback to take over for Prescott might not be a bad move for the Cowboys. They certainly need to plan for the future. Not taking one in the first round is the right call, but adding a prospect later in the NFL Draft to sit behind Prescott and learn for a few years would not be a bad decision.
