Very few NFL players have been under as much fire as New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson this season. Dallas Cowboys star pass-rusher Micah Parsons isn’t happy about that.

Wilson was pressed into action in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills after Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on the first offensive series of the year, all but ending the Jets’ Super Bowl hopes.

Wilson ended up leading the Jets to a surprising win over the Bills, but since then, New York has dropped three straight, due much in part to poor performance from Wilson.

One of those losses came at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, and on Monday, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons defended Wilson.

Parsons says he is rooting for Wilson amidst all of the criticism that the youngster has taken over the first several weeks, which included a scathing review from legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath.

To Wilson’s credit, he put forth a strong outing in New York’s Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and actually outplayed Patrick Mahomes in the defeat. Wilson went 28-for-39 with 245 yards and two touchdowns while posting a passer rating of 105.2 in what could easily be described as one of the best performances of his three-year NFL career.

On the season overall, however, Wilson has thrown for 712 yards, four touchdowns and four picks while completing just 58.5 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 72.3.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at BYU, was originally selected by the Jets with the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Zach Wilson made 13 starts during his rookie campaign, finishing with 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He played in only nine games last season due to injuries, totaling 1,688 yards, six touchdowns and seven picks.

The Jets are 1-3 and will take on the Denver Broncos next weekend. Meanwhile the 3-1 Cowboys will battle the San Francisco 49ers.
