Going into Week 4, people weren’t sure whether or not to take Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions seriously.

Yes, the Lions were 2-1, but considering this is a franchise that has made just three postseason appearances since 2000 and hasn’t won a playoff game in over three decades, most just rolled their eyes.

However, Detroit may now finally be catching people’s attention.

The Lions went into Lambeau Field and thumped the Green Bay Packers by a score of 34-20 on Thursday night, improving to 3-1 and taking sole possession of first place in the NFC North.

Following the win, Goff made a bold statement.

“Send us anywhere. We’ll be ready,” Goff told reporters, via the Lions’ official team website. “That’s the way we’re built.”

While Goff was far from spectacular in the Week 4 victory, he was good enough, going 19-for-28 with 210 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The Lions’ rushing attack stole the show, puncturing the Packers’ defense for 211 yards. Running back David Montgomery, who had been dealing with a thigh injury, carried the ball 32 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns.

Goff joined Detroit in March 2021 after being acquired in a trade that sent long-time Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams.

The 28-year-old made a trip to the Pro Bowl during his second season in the Motor City, throwing for 4,438 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 65.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 99.3.

Through four games this year, Jared Goff has totaled 1,029 yards, six touchdowns and three picks while completing 69.5 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 98.4.

The Lions will look to keep rolling when they head back home to host the Carolina Panthers next Sunday.
