ESPN Analyst Provides Bold Prediction For Justin Fields’ Future With Bears

Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

Justin Fields has not exactly had it easy since entering the NFL with the Chicago Bears back in 2021.

The young quarterback has gone just 6-25 as a starter, and some feel that the Bears and Fields should ultimately part ways heading into next season.

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky is one of those people.

Speaking on Fields during an episode of ESPN’s Get Up this week, Orlovsky said that he finds it hard to imagine the 24-year-old in a Bears uniform in 2024.

Fields, who played his collegiate football at Ohio State, was selected by the Bears with the 11th overall pick three offseasons ago, and he has certainly not lived up to expectations.

He played in 12 games and made 10 starts during his rookie campaign, throwing for 1,870 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 58.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 73.2. He also rushed for 420 yards and a couple of scores.

Then, last season, Fields showed some progression, totaling 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns and 11 picks while completing 60.4 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 85.2. Most impressive, he racked up 1,143 yards while reaching the end zone eight times on the ground.

Chicago hoped Fields would take that next step this season, but it hasn’t happened just yet.

Fields got off to a miserable start in 2023, highlighted by a putrid Week 3 performance in which he went 11-for-22 with 99 yards. However, he rebounded in Weeks 4 and 5 and flashed brilliant talent, compiling eight touchdowns and just one interception in those two games.

Unfortunately, Fields suffered a dislocated thumb in Week 6 and has been sidelined ever since.

As a result, the Bears haven’t gotten the chance to see if Fields’ outings in Weeks 4 and 5 were breakout performances or just a fluke.

Justin Fields is expected back soon, but whether or not Chicago will actually be able to see enough of him to make the decision to bring him back for 2024 remains to be seen.

The Bears are 3-7 on the season and will take on the Detroit Lions next Sunday.
