Fantasy Football outlook for Cardinals QB Kyler Murray in 2020

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

In the NFL, most quarterbacks see their biggest leap in development occur from year one to year two. In 2017, we saw both Carson Wentz and Jared Goff play at Pro Bowl levels after having subpar rookie seasons. In 2018, Patrick Mahomes took home the MVP award after sitting on the bench during his rookie campaign. There’s no reason to think this won’t happen with Murray in 2020.

He already showcased some great potential last season. With the improvements all around him on offense, Murray should be in for a big season in 2020.

Murray was already a top 10 fantasy quarterback last season, so don’t be shocked if he solidifies his spot as a top-5 fantasy quarterback in 2020. Fantasy Pros projects Murray as the 57th best fantasy player in football next season, but there’s a good chance he plays better than that projection.

His passing numbers will surely go up with Hopkins in the fold, as well as his offensive line improving a bit with the resigning of Marcus Gilbert and D.J. Humphries. The resigning of Kenyan Drake shouldn’t be overlooked either, as he provided the offense with consistent production on the ground when he joined the team half way through last season.

Kingsbury’s red zone offense was inconsistent last season, but now that he has a jump ball specialist in Hopkins, expect Murray to toss fades pretty frequently when the team gets inside the 10 yard line.

All in all, Murray is a sneaky pick to win the MVP award in 2020 if he really plays up to his potential. At the very least, he’ll be a great dual threat quarterback to have in your fantasy lineups come September.
