Former Pro Bowl QB Named Potential Target For Jets

With the New York Jets struggling at the quarterback position since the injury to Aaron Rodgers, could a former No.1 overall pick be the answer to fix their problems?

After a miracle win against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, the Jets got hit in the face with reality in their loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2. Without Aaron Rodgers, the Jets’ offense looked like a mess as we saw for most of last season, and hope is dwindling in New York with every week that Zach Wilson is starting.

Wilson will once again be under center for the Jets in Week 3 against the New England Patriots, but it’s hard to imagine we will see Wilson thrive against a team that has given him a lot of fits. As we expect Wilson to struggle again, the conversation for the Jets to try and get a new quarterback will continue.

Recently, Heavy.com named the Jets as a great landing spot for New Orleans Saints backup quarterback Jameis Winston.

Adding Winston would certainly be an upgrade for New York at the quarterback position, as he has seen more success in the NFL than Wilson. Just last season in seven starts, Winston had a 5-2 record and threw 14 touchdown passes with just three interceptions. By comparison, Wilson threw three interceptions just last week against the Cowboys.

With the Saints committing to Derek Carr this offseason as their new starting quarterback, it has left Winston as one of the best backups in the league. While having a good backup quarterback is important as the Jets are finding out, the Saints might not be willing to move him.

Week 3 feels like it will be one of the most important games for the Jets this season, and could be one of the most important games for Wilson’s career. With another loss, noise in New York will certainly be getting louder to replace Wilson if he struggles once again.
