As the Green Bay Packers prepare for the upcoming 2023 NFL season, there are quite a few questions that need to be answered during training camp. First and foremost, the team is hoping to see Jordan Love embrace the starting role and look the part of a franchise quarterback. Secondly, the offense needs to figure out exactly who is going to become Love’s go-to weapons.

There are some clear-cut favorites for that role. Both Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are entering their second NFL campaigns. Love seems to have a good chemistry with both of his young wideouts as well.

Watson, in particular, is widely viewed as the No. 1 talent in the wide receiver room. He came on strong down the stretch of his rookie season and is looking to have a breakout season.

NFL NEWS AND RUMORS: Green Bay Packers & NFL Updates

Head coach Matt LaFleur spent some time talking about Watson recently. He did not hold back with his thoughts on the young pass-catcher.

“So just him being healthy. He had a really good offseason. Just his knowledge of ours  offense. He is one of the most intelligent players that I have ever been around. Especially when you talk about the wide receiver position.”

Those are some big-time words from a coach like LaFleur. Granted, he’s going to build his young receiver up, but it’s clear that Watson has been developing just like the Packers were hoping. If he can reach his full potential, there is no question that superstar production could be reached.

NFL NEWS AND RUMORS: Green Bay Packers & NFL Updates

During his rookie season with the Packers, Watson ended up catching 41 passes for 611 yards and seven touchdowns. He also made some plays on the ground, racking up 80 yards and two scores.

Watson stands in at 6-foot-4 and has blazing speed to go with that height. There are very few defensive backs around the NFL that stand a great chance in a one-on-one situation. Green Bay will need to utilize his physical ability this season.

Expect to see Christian Watson come in looking to make a point right off the bat this season. He wants to prove that he can be Love’s top wide receiver. As of right now, it appears things are trending nicely for the young wideout.
