Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has taken massive strides throughout his first full season as the team’s starter under center, and this week, he spoke about the improvement he and his teammates have shown as the year has progressed.
“I think the exciting part about it is some of those mistakes we were making early on in the season, now we’ve corrected those things and we’re turning them into big-time plays,” Love said, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
To say that Love has had a topsy-turvy campaign would be an understatement.
He actually got off to a solid start, leading the Packers to a 2-1 record and totaling seven touchdowns and one interception. Then, Love went into a tailspin, accumulating seven touchdowns and nine picks over Green Bay’s six games, in which the club went 1-5. Since then, however, Love has taken his game to new heights.
Over the last six contests, Love has amassed 13 touchdowns and just one interception, and throughout that span, the Packers have gone 4-2 to vault themselves back into playoff contention.
On the season overall, Love has thrown for 3,587 yards, 27 touchdowns and 11 picks while completing 62.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 91.8.
Love, who played his collegiate football at Utah State, was selected by Green Bay with the 26th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.
He spent his first three seasons as Aaron Rodgers’ backup, but after Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets this past offseason, Love stepped into the starting role.
Most recently, Jordan Love went 17-for-28 with 219 yards and a couple of touchdowns in a win over the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday.
The Packers are 7-8 and are one game back of a playoff spot in the NFC. However, there are numerous teams in front of them.
Green Bay will battle the Minnesota Vikings this weekend before taking on the Chicago Bears on Jan. 7 to wrap up the regular season.
