Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been struggling during his first full season as the starter, but a former Packers wide receiver thinks the youngster will be just fine moving forward.
During an interview with Fox News Digital, Green Bay legend Donald Driver said that he thinks there is plenty of time for Love and the youthful Packers to get it together.
“Jordan Love is starting over. That’s fresh,” said Driver. “All those guys are young. There’s no veteran guy in that locker room to lead that charge, and Jordan is young as well. This is a young team, but a team that can grow.”
Driver certainly has a point. With Aaron Rodgers no longer in the fold, growing pains should be expected for Green Bay. Love is just 24 year old, and most of the rest of the Packers’ key players are also very young.
Love got off to a good start this season, throwing seven touchdowns and one interception over his first three games while leading Green Bay to a 2-1 record in the process. But since then, Love has faltered, totaling four touchdowns and seven picks during a four-game losing streak.
However, Driver still believes in Love regardless of his recent issues.
“I think Jordan Love is the future,” he said. “It’s gonna take some time for him to get his feet behind him, and I think at the end of the day, he’s gonna be good.”
Driver spent his entire 14-year NFL career (1999-2012) with the Packers and caught passes from both Brett Favre and Rodgers, so he knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a great quarterback in this league.
Throughout his time in Green Bay, Driver made three Pro Bowl appearances and put together seven 1,000-yard campaigns, including six consecutive between 2004 and 2009. He also won a Super Bowl with Rodgers at the helm during the 2010-11 season.
The Packers are 2-5 and will look to snap their losing skid when they battle the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
