Rashan Gary and the Green Bay Packers’ defense had their fair share of struggles in Week 4, allowing 34 points in a 14-point loss to the Detroit Lions last Thursday.
However, one constant along the Packers’ defensive front seven has been Gary.
Through the first four games of the season, Gary has logged five tackles and 3.5 sacks.
The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, was selected by the Packers with the 12th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Gary didn’t make much of an impact during his rookie campaign, recording 21 tackles and two sacks. The following year, he showed considerable progression, finishing with 35 tackles, five sacks and a fumble recovery.
The Plainfield, N.J. native then enjoyed a breakout season of sorts in 2021, racking up 47 tackles, 9.5 sacks, a couple of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
A torn ACL ended Gary’s 2022 campaign after just nine contests, but during his time on the field, he was terrific, posting 32 tackles, six sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Based on how good Rashan Gary has looked in the early stages of this year, it seems pretty safe to say that he has recovered pretty nicely from his knee injury.
The Packers have gotten off to a 2-2 start, most recently losing to the Lions and falling out of a first-place tie in the NFC North as a result.
Green Bay is in its first year without Aaron Rodgers under center, as the Jordan Love era has begun.
Love has produced mixed results thus far, but he has certainly been good enough to vault the Packers into playoff contention.
Green Bay will take on the Las Vegas Raiders next Monday.
