Green Bay Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari cannot seem to catch a break.

According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL media, the Packers have placed Bakhtiari on the injured reserve list due to a knee issue, meaning that he will be sidelined for at least the next four weeks. Rapoport adds that it’s unclear if Bakhtiari will return this season.

This marks the latest bit of bad news for Bakhtiari, who has been ravaged by injuries for the last four seasons.

Bakhtiari tore his ACL in 2020, limiting him to just 12 games. While he was activated in mid-November the following season, he proceeded to play in just one contest. He was then limited to just 11 games last year and participated in one game this season before succumbing to the knee injury.

The 31-year-old has been a cornerstone piece along Green Bay’s offensive line for a decade.

Bakhtiari, who played his collegiate football at the University of Colorado, was originally selected by the Packers in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He immediately started all 16 games at left tackle during his rookie campaign, and by his fourth season, he was a Pro Bowler.

Over the course of his career, Bakhtiari has made three trips to the Pro Bowl while earning a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections. He notched both honors in 2020.

The Packers have gotten off to a solid start this season, going 2-1 over their first three weeks. Most recently, Green Bay put together a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the New Orleans Saints, rallying from a 17-0 fourth-quarter deficit to pull out an 18-17 win last Sunday.

However, without David Bakhtiari, things just became that much tougher for the Packers the rest of the way.

Green Bay will take on the Detroit Lions in a critical early-season NFC North division battle on Thursday night. The Lions are also 2-1.
