C.J. Goetz, former outside linebacker for the Wisconsin Badgers, has been extended an invitation to the Green Bay Packers’ local prospect day, as reported by Aaron Wilson of KPRC.
Completing a notable six-year stint with Wisconsin, Goetz wrapped up his collegiate journey at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
Initially joining the team as a three-star recruit in 2018, he leaves behind a legacy of impressive stats, amassing 148 total tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 9.0 sacks, one interception, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble throughout his tenure.
Particularly shining in his final year under the defensive strategy of Luke Fickell in 2023, Goetz showcased his skills as a starter, tallying 60 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, and 4.0 sacks.
Despite not securing an invitation to the recent NFL Combine, Goetz took advantage of the opportunity to showcase his abilities at Wisconsin’s pro day earlier this month. With projections pointing towards him being signed as an undrafted free agent post the upcoming NFL Draft, the local prospect day with the Packers offers him another chance to make an impression.
The Packers’ local prospect day, tailored for collegiate players who have wrapped up their careers in proximity to the team’s facilities, holds particular significance for Goetz, considering his ties to Madison, Wisconsin.
Goetz stands among a cohort of former Wisconsin Badgers eagerly awaiting their prospects as the NFL Draft approaches in late April.
It will be interesting to see if the Green Bay Packers keep him in-state with either a selection in the NFL Draft or a signing afterwards.
