The Green Bay Packers have agreed to re-sign cornerback and special teamer Keisean Nixon, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL media.

It’s a three-year, $18 million deal that could be worth up to $19.2 million with incentives.

Nixon is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and registered 80 tackles, a half of a sack, an interception, a couple of fumble recoveries and six passes defended. He also led the NFL with 782 kick return yards en route to a First-Team All-Pro selection.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of South Carolina, went undrafted but landed with the Oakland Raiders in 2019.

He spent the first three seasons of his career with the Raiders, but didn’t really break out until he joined the Packers in 2022.

Nixon didn’t get much playing time as a cornerback during his debut campaign in Green Bay, recording 23 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble. However, he shined as a returner, pacing the league with 1,009 yards and a touchdown. He earned his first First-Team All-Pro nod that season.

The Packers were one of the most pleasant surprises in football this past year, going 9-8 and making the playoffs as a Wild Card. They proceeded to upset the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs before blowing a late lead against the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round the following week.

Green Bay got off to a 3-6 start, but ended up going 6-2 over its last eight games thanks to some extraordinary play from quarterback Jordan Love.

The Packers have been busy in free agency, first signing star running back Josh Jacobs in what came as a shock to many. They also signed safety Xavier McKinney.

Now, Green Bay is retaining a key player of its own in Nixon.
