After three weeks of the NFL season, Tua Tagovailoa is proving that he is an elite quarterback in the league for the Miami Dolphins.

Through three weeks of the season, the Miami Dolphins are arguably one of the most impressive teams in the NFL. One of the main reasons for their success has been the play of their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.

It has been a very mixed start to the career of Tagovailoa, as injuries have held him back. Coming out of Alabama, Tagovailoa was one of the top prospects, but his health was a question. So far in the NFL, health has been a question, but this time because of several concussions that he has suffered.

Fortunately, Tagovailoa is currently healthy and is playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the league this season. So far in 2023, Tagovailoa has totaled 1,024 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns, and two interceptions. One of the most impressive things about his game has been his completion percentage, as he is currently completing over 70 percent of his passes this season.

There was never really a question about Tagovailoa’s talent, but he certainly looks like he is taking a step forward this season to an elite level, and that can make the Dolphins a Super Bowl contender.

With Tagovailoa playing at his current level, the next question that he will have to answer will be can he stay healthy? So far in his career, Tagovailoa has never started in more than 13 games in a season, and to be truly elite, he will have to stay on the field. As we have seen, the Dolphins can hang with pretty much anyone with Tagovailoa under center.

Finding a quarterback the caliber of Tagovailoa is very hard to find in the NFL, as he is quickly emerging as a top-5 guy at the position. When talking about some of the great quarterbacks in the league, many will mention Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen as for sure Top-5 guys. With his production, this season so far and what he has shown when healthy, Tagovailoa is deserving of being in that conversation.

In 2023, the AFC is certainly a very strong conference top-to-bottom and a lot of the reason for that is the players at the quarterback position. To win the AFC, you need to have an elite quarterback that can beat a player like Mahomes. For the Dolphins, they appear to have found that guy in Tagovailoa. Hopefully, he can stay healthy.
