Intriguing Raiders WR Named Potential Offseason Steal

The Las Vegas Raiders are probably going to release wide receiver Hunter Renfrow this offseason, and Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox thinks a change of scenery will do him a lot of good.

Renfrow played in all 17 games this past season, but his role was incredibly limited, as he logged just 25 catches for 255 yards without reaching the end zone.

The 28-year-old has seen his role decrease drastically over the last couple of years, as he also caught 36 passes for 330 yards and a couple of touchdowns in 2022.

Renfrow, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was selected by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a solid rookie campaign, appearing in 13 contests and registering 49 grabs for 605 yards and four scores. He then posted similar numbers in his sophomore season, snaring 56 balls for 656 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Then, in 2021, Renfrow broke out, hauling in 103 receptions for 1,038 yards and nine scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

It looked like Renfrow was on his way to becoming a regular in Las Vegas’ offense, but since that fantastic season, he has been nothing more than an afterthought.

Knox sees Renfrow as a potential steal in free agency this offseason. That is assuming the Raiders cut him, of course, as Renfrow is under contract through next season.

It’s hard to imagine Las Vegas holding on to Renfrow. Head coach Antonio Pierce clearly does not see a role for him, and he hasn’t been all that productive in three years.

But perhaps a different uniform will end up revitalizing Renfrow’s stagnating NFL career.
