It has been a tough year for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, and it only got tougher this past Sunday with the Raiders being eliminated from playoff contention in a loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

After the game, Adams vented his frustrations.

“I mean, that’s been the story for us this year,” Adams said, via the Raiders’ official team website. “It’s been more about us beating ourselves and not being able to either convert in situations that we should or having those penalties and obviously that makes it a lot harder to win the game. Definitely frustrating.”

Adams tied a season-high with 13 catches for 126 yards and a couple of touchdowns in the defeat.

This is hardly the first time the superstar wide out has expressed some distaste in Las Vegas this year. Earlier this season, he criticized the Raiders’ organizational culture, and several weeks later, he said he was not happy with his lack of touches.

Adams’ discontent has fueled speculation that the veteran could ultimately ask for a trade this offseason, but he has given no indication that he will go in that direction. Yet.

“Every season that you don’t go to the playoffs is a missed opportunity,” added the 31-year-old. “All the teams in this league are good, it is just a matter of how you go out there and play, and we just didn’t play good enough to do that. Everybody, I’m sure, all the teams that have been eliminated, not just us, are frustrated. We definitely are a little extra just based off of what we have and the potential of this team.”

Las Vegas initially acquired Adams in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers in March 2022. Adams enjoyed a spectacular debut campaign, hauling in 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns. However, this season, his production has waned, as Adams has caught 98 passes for 1,098 yards and seven scores.

Adams became accustomed to making the playoffs in Green Bay, so missing the postseason in each of his first two years in Vegas has to be exasperating.

The Raiders will wrap up the regular season next Sunday when they take on the Denver Broncos.

We’ll see what Davante Adams has to say after the finale.
