Rams Trade For Panthers’ Brian Burns In Bold Proposal

Brian Burns, Rams, Panthers

The Carolina Panthers have gotten off to an 0-4 start this season, so it should come as a surprise to no one that they are expected to be sellers ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline. But just how serious will the Panthers be about moving players? Could they potentially trade edge rusher Brian Burns to a team like the Los Angeles Rams?

Carolina failed to reach a long-term agreement with Burns going into the season. Burns is reportedly seeking $26-28 million annually, a price the Panthers were evidently not willing to pay. As a result, Burns will hit the free-agent market come springtime, and all indications are that Carolina will not be retaining him.

That should open the door to a possible trade in the coming weeks.

Should the Panthers indeed place Burns on the trade block, there would be no shortage of suitors, as the 25-year-old has developed into one of the best pass rushers in the league.

Could the Rams be among the teams interested?

The Rams have been somewhat of a surprise in the early stages of 2023, going 2-2 and looking very competitive in a year where many expected them to flounder.

However, Los Angeles’ pass rush has been laboring, as LA has amassed a grand total of seven sacks through the first four games of the season.

Burns would instantly remedy those issues.

The Rams could offer the Panthers a package that includes a 2024 first-round draft pick and a fourth-rounder in a deal that would supply Carolina with some serious assets to use in its rebuild.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles would be able to insert Brian Burns into a front seven that already includes Aaron Donald. That certainly sounds tantalizing,

Over the first four weeks of 2023, Burns has logged 14 tackles and three sacks. He racked up 63 tackles and 12.5 sacks a year ago.
