The Miami Dolphins had the most explosive offense in the NFL during the 2023 regular season. Alas, when they needed that production the most, the Dolphins’ offense fell flat. That has led to a lot of people questioning quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and head coach Mike McDaniel.

Playing in arctic temperatures Super Wild Card Weekend on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami was unable to get anything going consistently on offense. They lost 26-7, ending their season on a three-game losing streak as their two losses at the end of the regular season game the AFC East divisional title to the Buffalo Bills.

A 53-yard touchdown by Tyeek Hill provided all of the scoring for Miami against Kansas City. That single play accounted for 20 percent of the team’s total offense in the game as the weather and Chiefs’ defense shut down the Dolphins.

However, Hill isn’t here for any of the slander about his teammate and coach. He took to social media earlier this week and defended McDaniel after the Championship Games resulted in the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers on a collision course for a rematch at Super Bowl 58.

“Everybody forgetting Coach Dan Campbell was 3-13 I think his first year in Detroit,” Hill voiced unexpectedly. Campbell and the Lions were actually 3-13-1 in 2021, but the point appeared to be that the current coach of the year finalist got off to a really rough start in the Motor City. (H/T Heavy)

“I say that to say what Coach McDaniel is doing in Miami is already special,” he continued boldly, adding: “It’s understandable expectations are high keep them that way.”

Hill’s led to many reactions being shared by other users. He stood up for his coach, something every captain and a good leader should do when put in the position that Hill has been, watching people question just how good the Dolphins really are.

While the playoff results haven’t been there for the Dolphins under McDaniel, they look to be on the right track. He is poised to come back even better and more prepared in Year 3, just as he did in Year 2 compared to Year 1.

The Detroit Lions are a good example of what can happen with perseverance and hard work. Dan Campbell took over a downtrodden franchise and has gotten them back on track. McDaniel is hoping to do the same in Miami with Hill as one of the leaders helping them achieve that.
