New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton is angling for a new deal, and it seems like things are moving along on that front.

Slayton provided a positive update on negotiations this week, and it’s looking like something will get done soon.

“Right now, my agent (Michael Perrett) and (general manager) Joe (Schoen), they’re in negotiations. They’re talking,” Slayton said, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN. “Hopefully, we’ll come to a resolution here soon.”

Slayton is preparing to enter the final year of his deal. He signed a two-year, $12 million extension with the Giants last offseason, but he wants a raise.

The 27-year-old is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and hauled in 50 receptions for 770 yards and four touchdowns.

Slayton is confident that things will be resolved before training camp.

“I don’t think it will get to that point,” he said. “Like I said, it’s been good, constant communication throughout the whole process. It’ll be resolved soon.”

Slayton, who played his collegiate football at Auburn, was selected by New York in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He has been a steady presence in the Giants’ aerial attack ever since, posting over 700 receiving yards in four of his five seasons. The lone exception was 2021, when he missed four games due to injury.

We’ll see if New York is able to reach an agreement with Darius Slayton in the coming weeks. He will likely be Big Blue’s No. 2 receiver behind incoming rookie Malik Nabers in 2024.
