The Miami Hurricanes’ 2024 recruiting cycle saw the Hurricanes secure one of the nation’s top defensive line classes, and they are continuing to prioritize strengthening their trenches in the 2025 cycle.

One standout emerging in this recruitment drive is Jarquez Carter, a talented defensive lineman hailing from Newberry, Florida. Carter is slated to attend Miami’s Junior Day on January 27, demonstrating the Hurricanes’ keen interest in his potential.

Carter received an offer from the Hurricanes back in June, but his recruitment journey has been nothing short of impressive. He boasts an impressive list of offers from renowned institutions such as Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Washington, and most recently, USC. Standing at 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 284 pounds, he has garnered attention as a formidable defensive force.

Throughout the past year, Carter made game-day visits to Florida State, Florida, and Central Florida, and in December, he embarked on an unofficial visit to Tennessee.

According to MaxPreps, Carter has showcased his skills over three seasons at Newberry, amassing an impressive stat line of 228 tackles, 81 tackles for loss, 26 sacks, three forced fumbles, two pass deflections, and a fumble recovery. His contributions have been instrumental in guiding the Panthers to Florida’s 1R playoffs for three consecutive seasons.

In the 2025 rankings by 247Sports, Carter is ranked as the 44th-best defensive lineman nationally and holds a three-star prospect status. Miami’s pursuit of this rising talent underscores their commitment to fortifying their defensive line for the future.
