The Michigan Wolverines find themselves in need of a new defensive coordinator following Jesse Minter’s departure to Los Angeles alongside Jim Harbaugh.

Reports emerged on Sunday suggesting that Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive line coach, Joe Cullen, is being considered for the role.

Adding to the intrigue, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports has now disclosed that Wink Martindale, formerly with the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants, is also under consideration.

Martindale boasts an impressive resume, having served as linebackers coach (2012-17) and defensive coordinator (2018-21) for the Baltimore Ravens under Jim’s brother, John Harbaugh. He then transitioned to lead the New York Giants’ defense over the last two seasons, delivering commendable results despite encountering discord with head coach Brian Daboll, resulting in an acrimonious departure.

Notably, Bryan Broaddus of 105.3 The Fan previously identified Martindale as a contender for the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator position.

While Martindale’s recent coaching endeavors have been in the professional realm, it’s worth noting his prior experience as defensive coordinator at Western Kentucky from 2000-03 marks his collegiate coaching background.
