Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin did not mince his words following the team’s disappointing Week 4 performance against the Houston Texans. He oversaw an embarrassing performance in which the Steelers were blown out 30-6. It was the first home win for the Texans since December of 2021, as Pittsburgh was the latest team to get carved up by C.J. Stroud.

Heading back home to Acrisure Stadium for a game in Week 5, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are going to have their hands full once again. They will be looking to get back on track in an AFC North rivalry game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens are riding a lot of positive momentum coming into the game. Despite injuries up and down their roster, Baltimore is coming into the game with a 3-1 record. They dismantled the Cleveland Browns in Week 4, going on the road and winning 28-3.

If the Steelers can pull off the upset this week, they will move into first place in the division with a 3-2 overall record but 2-0 against AFC North foes. For that to occur, Pittsburgh is going to have to slow down what has been a solid Ravens offense in the first month of the season.

There are a lot of playmakers to keep an eye on, led by quarterback Lamar Jackson. But, it was rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers who Mike Tomlin was focused on when talking to reporters on Tuesday afternoon. Per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Flowers has a fan in the Steelers’ head coach.

“Can’t say enough about him. He’s got really good speed, short-area burst, change of direction and body control…”

“The interesting component of his calling card is the fearlessness in his play. He is fearless. He runs into dark places at full speed. He’s combative in his play. … Quite honestly, I’ve never seen him flinch,” said Mike Tomlin.

Flowers has gotten off to a good start in his NFL career. The first-round pick out of Boston College has caught 24 passes for 244 yards, both of which lead the team. He has yet to find the end zone as a professional, but that will come sooner than later.

The Ravens love to move him around the formation, as Mike Tomlin and his staff are going to have to identify where he is at all times. Flowers has received five carries already this season, as offensive coordinator Todd Monken is dead set on getting the ball into the hands of his explosive playmaker.
