The Minnesota Vikings stunned Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, coming up with a 22-17 win in their Week 7 matchup.
During the win, the Vikings made life difficult for 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, forcing him into a couple of interceptions.
It represented just the second regular-season loss of Purdy’s young career, with the first coming last week in a 19-17 defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Browns.
Purdy has experienced a great deal of success in a limited time with San Francisco, which took him with the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Funny enough, Minnesota was this close to ending up with Purdy.
According to Kevin Seifert and Nick Wagoner of ESPN, Purdy revealed that had he gone undrafted, he may have ended up signing with the Vikings, who heavily pursued him in the final hours of the draft a couple of years ago.
Purdy added that he would have also considered the Niners and the Houston Texans.
Fortunately for Purdy, he ended up in the right situation, as he would have certainly been stuck behind Kirk Cousins in Minnesota.
The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Iowa State, entered his rookie campaign with the 49ers as the third-string quarterback but was pressed into starting duty when both Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance went down with injuries.
Purdy ultimately went 5-0 as a starter in 2022 and led San Francisco to the NFC Championship Game. He once again got off to a 5-0 start this season, but has lost his last two games.
The Niners are 5-2 and will take on the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday.
