New Odds Show Chance Baker Mayfield Gets Traded To Seahawks

One of the teams that have been involved in the quarterback carousel this offseason is the Cleveland Browns. They worked hard behind the scenes and ultimately worked out a deal to land Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans and now the future of Baker Mayfield is in question.. Another team involved in the carousel has been the Seattle Seahawks.

Cleveland wasn’t originally a place that Watson was willing to waive his no-trade clause for, but they must have done a great job selling it to him, as he was traded there and signed a mega-contract as part of the deal.

Now, the Browns have to figure out what to do with their former franchise quarterback, Baker Mayfield. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft requested a trade, but the Browns said they have no plans to honor the request.

Holding onto Mayfield makes some sense because no one is sure what Watson’s availability will be this season. Watson is still facing numerous lawsuits and could be suspended by the league even if he is cleared of any wrongdoing.

Having a player capable of stepping into the lineup and starting for a few games is something that Cleveland could use. However, the Browns seemingly filled that need with their signing of Jacoby Brissett, so trading Mayfield away to recoup some asses would be the smart thing to do.

Finding a landing spot for Mayfield isn’t too difficult, either. The Seattle Seahawks are a potential landing spot after trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. They got Drew Lock back in the trade, but Mayfield is likely a better long-term option should they pursue it.

Over at Bovada, that is exactly what they believe will happen. The Seahawks are the odds on favorite to be who Mayfield suits up with in the first game of the 2022 season. Seattle is leading the way at -150.

Mayfield’s current team is actually third on the list at +350. Second, are the Detroit Lions with odds of +325. There are six teams in total listed, with the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers next, tied with odds of +600. Rounding out the list is the Houston Texans, who are long shots at +1200.

The Steelers reportedly won’t make a trade for Mayfield, as the Browns are looking for a first-round pick in exchange for him. However, should he reach free agency, Pittsburgh would “pounce” on signing him.
