New Orleans Saints Could Target Intriguing WR In 2022 NFL Draft

While the 2022 NFL draft class at the wide receiver position may not have as big of names as classes in years past, this one still possesses a lot of high-end talent. Anywhere from five to seven prospects at the position could hear their name called. One team that could have interest in a wideout would be the New Orleans Saints.

Some mock drafts have a wide receiver going as high as No. 4. But, it is in the second half of the first round where we could really see a run on them.

Prospect rankings lists vary depending on where you go, but there are plenty of receivers ranked inside the top 32, and some just outside of that number, that will have a chance to be selected in the first round.

One of those wide receivers hoping to have his name called in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft is Treylon Burks out of Arkansas. Over at CBS Sports, they believe Burks will be the fourth wide receiver off the board and that it will be the New Orleans Saints calling his name.

New Orleans would be an intriguing landing spot for Burks. While their quarterback position is a little murky, there is no denying the need to add some pass catchers to the offense. If Michael Thomas can return to the field healthy it would help immensely, but if the last two seasons mostly without him showed anything, New Orleans needs more weapons.

Burks would be a good complement to Thomas on the outside. There isn’t a prospect in this year’s class that possesses his combination of size, standing 6’3” and weighing 225, and speed.

At the very least, Burks will provide whatever team selects him with a vertical threat out of the gate, but with the potential to do so much more. As a true junior at Arkansas this past season, Burks caught 66 passes for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was also dynamic as a runner, carrying the ball 14 times for 112 yards and another score.
