NFL Insider Isn’t Counting Out Raiders Signing Tom Brady

Could legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady return to football to play for the Las Vegas Raiders?

Brady recently created a stir when he said on a podcast that he would be open to an NFL comeback, which has caused many to begin speculating which teams could be potential fits for the future Hall-of-Famer.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano is not ruling out the Raiders, a franchise in which Brady will soon own a minority stake. The catch is that Graziano thinks Brady could do it midseason, like MLB legend Roger Clemens did with the New York Yankees back in 2007.

“I really went back and forth on this one, but I settled on ‘likely not happening.’ What Brady said a few weeks ago reminded me of way back when I was covering the Yankees: Roger Clemens would join in midseason because the pitcher felt like he was too old to manage his way through a whole season,” Graziano wrote. “Could you imagine Brady doing something like that? I kind of can. But Brady is all about preparation and I also can’t see him jumping into a season without his usual offseason routine to prepare.”

Brady has a great relationship with Raiders owner Mark Davis, and Las Vegas actually has some pieces that may interest Brady, such as wide receivers Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers.

But would Brady—who turns 47 years old in August—seriously return to the NFL just to play for a ballclub that missed the playoffs this past season?

While the Raiders showed life after Antonio Pierce took over as head coach midway through 2023, they are far from legitimate contenders. As a matter of fact, their current over/under for next season is 6.5 wins.

If Brady decides to get back on the gridiron, you would have to think it would be for a team that could potentially win a Super Bowl. Las Vegas does not fit that criteria.

This is probably all moot anyway, because the chances of Tom Brady actually playing football again are slim to none.
