The Chicago Bears picked up a victory on Thursday Night Football over the Carolina Panthers to kick off Week 10. Even with the victory, Chicago’s record stands at 3-7 as there is plenty of work to do to get the franchise on track.
While questions at the quarterback position long-term have been near the forefront of discussions, that is far from the only change the Bears could be making. Depending on how the season ends, major changes could be coming to the regime.
Earlier in the 2023 season, there were some rumors about head coach Matt Eberflus potentially being replaced. The team has played better in recent weeks, going 3-3 in their last six games after an 0-4 start.
Will that be enough for Eberflus to keep his job, especially if the team continues playing at or above the .500 mark? In the opinion of former NFL defensive tackle and current ESPN analyst, Chris Canty, Eberflus won’t be keeping his job.
Canty believes that the Bears are going to make a major change at the head coaching position. On a recent segment of Get Up on ESPN, he revealed his belief that current Michigan head coach, Jim Harbaugh, could be heading to the Windy City.
“He is damn good at his job which is coaching football and then resurrecting programs. Why would we think he couldn’t get the Chicago Bears turned around,” Canty said.
If the Bears are going to make a head coaching change, they are a very attractive opening. Whoever takes over will likely have their choice of the top quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft to start their rebuild with.
A second impact prospect can be added to the roster as well Chicago owns their pick along with the first-round pick of the 1-8 Panthers. That is an enticing situation when you consider the Bears are also projected to be among the teams with the most cap space available to spend in 2024.
