It has been a while since the Dallas Cowboys made some legitimate noise in the playoffs.
Since last winning the Super Bowl during the 1995-96 campaign, the Cowboys have failed to make it back to the NFC Championship Game. As a matter of fact, Dallas has only won five playoff games in total since then.
But things look quite a bit different thus far in 2023.
The Cowboys have appeared thoroughly dominant over the first two weeks of the season, routing the New York Giants 40-0 in Week 1 and following that up with a resounding 30-10 win over the New York Jets this past Sunday.
Former NFL linebacker and current Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho is loving what he is seeing from Dallas early on, saying that this looks like the best Cowboys team he has ever seen and stating that they are the best club in the league right now.
Still, it’s hard to ignore what the Cowboys have done in the early stages of 2023.
Outscoring your opponents 70-10 is no joke, and Dallas’ defense currently ranks No. 1 in the NFL, allowing just 193 total yards per game. Conversely, however, the Cowboys’ offense has not been great, ranking a mediocre 18th in the league.
Dallas is coming off of a 2022-23 campaign in which it went 12-5 and lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, marking the second straight year that the Cowboys were bounced by the 49ers in the postseason. The year before, Dallas lost to San Francisco in the Wild Card Round.
The Cowboys will head on the road to take on the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.
