Jim Harbaugh made a significant move on Wednesday when he decided to part ways with Michigan and return to the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers.

This decision comes just a few weeks after leading the Wolverines to a national title. Harbaugh is set to become the new head coach of the Chargers.

This hiring has ignited enthusiasm throughout the NFL community, with many anticipating a bright future for the Chargers. Some experts even believe that the combination of Harbaugh as the coach and Justin Herbert as the quarterback is a recipe for contention.

Colin Cowherd, a prominent figure at Fox Sports, shares this optimistic view and expressed his favorable opinion of Harbaugh during a recent episode of The Herd. He emphasized the formula of pairing a top-notch coach with a talented quarterback.

“Jim Harbaugh enters the NFL again as a top four or five head coach. Not many better. Andy Reid’s the only one – and probably [Sean] McVay – I would say absolutely better at this point. When you combine a top coach with a top quarterback talent, you win and win quickly.”

Cowherd drew a parallel with the Houston Texans this season, where the coaching of DeMeco Ryans and the emergence of C.J. Stroud swiftly transformed the franchise’s fortunes.

While Herbert has made the playoffs once in his career, it is widely expected that under Harbaugh’s leadership, this trend will change. Harbaugh boasts a winning track record in both the NFL and college football, reinforcing the belief of Cowherd and many others that he can lead the Chargers to victory with the talent at his disposal.
