Pop singer Taylor Swift was in attendance at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday afternoon, watching the Kansas City Chiefs thump the Chicago Bears by a score of 41-10.

Swift was seen leaving with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce after the game, generating rumors that the pair may be dating.

Well, Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright proposed an interesting theory during an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Tuesday. He thinks that the relationship between Kelce and Swift may actually help Kansas City re-sign star defensive lineman Chris Jones.

Wright actually makes an interesting point.

His thesis revolves around the fact that there are profits to playing for the Chiefs outside of your salary. Jones will probably not be able to become the highest-paid defensive lineman in the NFL should he re-sign with Kansas City, but because of Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs’ brand is becoming popular enough that Jones could reap other benefits.

Wright mentions that Kelce mentioned Swift on a podcast a couple of weeks ago, and then, sure enough, Swift was present at a Chiefs game not long after.

While it may sound ridiculous, you have to think that having a chance to win every year while also representing a key piece on one of the NFL’s top franchises has to be alluring to Jones.

Jones went into the season without a new deal, but he and the front office were able to reach an agreement on a one-year, $19.5 million contract ahead of Week 2.

The 29-year-old has logged three tackles and 2.5 sacks thus far in 2023 and is coming off of four straight trips to the Pro Bowl. Chris Jones also earned a First-Team All-Pro selection last season after racking up 44 tackles and 15.5 sacks.

Kansas City is 2-1 and will take on the New York Jets next Sunday. Maybe Taylor Swift will make another appearance.
