2023 is the dawn of a new era for the Green Bay Packers. Long-time starter and future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers is no longer the starting quarterback after being traded to the New York Jets. Instead, it will be Jordan Love under center in Green Bay for 2023 and hopefully beyond.

Love was drafted in the first round, No. 26 overall, in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Utah State. The Packers actually made a trade up to select him, which is what set in motion the deterioration of the relationship with Rodgers.

With that now behind them, all focus is on Love and how to help him succeed as soon and as much as possible. In a very tiny sample size during the 2022 season, Love did showcase some skill. When he came on in relief of Rodgers against the Philadelphia Eagles, cornerback Darius Slay was impressed with what he saw.

Slay isn’t the only person that is intrigued by the potential that Love possesses. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz of The Score recently spoke to an NFL assistant general manager that is very high on Love.

“Jordan Love’s gonna be really good. I thought he cleaned up his mechanics last year, in the small sample size we saw at least. He’s a big, talented guy with the type of arm you don’t see too often. … All the traits are there to be a star.”

That is some high praise from the anonymous assistant general manager. The most we have seen of Love since being drafted by the Packers is in the preseason, but he has certainly made strides despite not getting regular season action.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur also spoke highly of the development that Love has undergone, as the team is confident he will get the job done as a starter in 2023. If Green Bay can add some more weapons around him, he could find immediate success.
