NFL Exec Reveals One Trade Target The Packers Must Pursue

The Green Bay Packers entered their Week 6 bye with a 2-3 record. Given some of the circumstances that they have had to face, it isn’t too surprising to see the team with a losing record at this point in the season. However, the potential for a quick turnaround is certainly there.

Green Bay has had to overcome a ton of injuries on the offensive side of the ball, making an already difficult situation that much tougher. The Packers turned to Jordan Love to become their starting quarterback for the first time and he hasn’t been given much of a chance to succeed in the early going.

While there have been some flashes of brilliance, shortcomings have also persisted. Some of that is due to the fact Green Bay has been without the starting left side of their offensive line with David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins both suffering from knee injuries.

A full complement of offensive weapons hasn’t been available either. Wide receiver Christian Watson missing three games and Aaron Jones is yet to make it through one healthy, missing three altogether himself.

That has put Love in a tough spot, as the Packers are hoping the bye week will bring some better health and a chance to iron out some of the issues he is facing. How can Green Bay fix some of those issues?

A former NFL executive who spoke to NFL Analysis Network believes there is one player who would help alleviate some of their problems. In the executive’s opinion, making a trade for Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy would make the most sense for the team.

“Looking at the trade market, I think there is one player that makes sense over any other for the Packers. Jordan Love could use more help. Going after Jerry Jeudy would make sense both now and for the future in Green Bay.”

According to reports last week, the Broncos are likely to trade Jeudy ahead of the October 31st deadline. Sitting at 1-5 after their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6 on Thursday Night Football, it should be no surprise that Denver is looking to be a seller.

Jeudy is arguably the best trade chip rumored to be available from the team; that would change if Patrick Surtain II was made available. For the Packers, Jeudy would solve some of their issues at the wide receiver position, as they are lacking established depth. Still only 24 and in his fourth season in the NFL, the 2020 first-round pick would lap the field in terms of experience and production at this level.

As the executive pointed out, acquiring Jeudy not only helps the Packers now, but he is still young enough to be part of their core on offense. Those are the exact kind of players Green Bay should be targeting if they are looking to make a move ahead of the deadline. They aren’t going to be contending for a Super Bowl this season, but the foundation for a strong future can be laid down.
