Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins made some moves this offseason. They won five of their final nine games in 2019 which is a huge testament to head coach Brian Flores. Miami drafted Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth-overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and made some significant defensive additions including Byron Jones.
Miami signed Jordan Howard to a two-year, $10 million deal in March. Howard spent 2019 with the Philadelphia Eagles after being traded by the Chicago Bears. He played in 10 games, making four starts. Howard finished with 525 yards and six touchdowns. He is a former 1,000 yard rusher early in his career and that is the production that the Dolphins are hoping for.
The Dolphins went through a complete overhaul along the offensive line. They signed Ereck Flowers and Ted Karras on free agent deals. They drafted Austin Jackson in the first round and Robert Hunt in the second round of the draft. Both rookies are likely to start in their first year. This will help the run game immensely.
Miami has Matt Breida and Kalen Ballage behind Howard. They are both professional level runners but Howard will get a bulk of the carries. The run game will not be a strong suit of the offense, but Howard will be a massive upgrade from last season where Ryan Fitzpatrick was the team’s leading rusher with 243 yards.
