NFL Insider Gives Brutal Update On Chiefs’ WR Rashee Rice

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has not exactly had the best offseason.

In late March, Rice was involved in a six-car crash in Texas and was reportedly going 119 mph at the time of the accident. At first, people weren’t sure if he were the driver of the vehicle—a Lamborghini—that appeared to be racing, but it was later confirmed that he was.

To make matters worse, Rice left the scene.

Fortunately, no one was severely hurt, but Rice is facing eight felony charges as a result of the incident, and his NFL future is also obviously in question.

Recently, Ian Rapoport of NFL media reported that the league’s disciplinary action on Rice would ultimately depend on the timing of the case and that it was possible that Rice actually wouldn’t face any sort of suspension for 2024.

However, NFL insider James Palmer has painted a much grimmer picture and thinks that Rice will be suspended for at least half of next season.

If Rice is going to miss that much of 2024, the Chiefs may have to search for more answers in their aerial attack.

Kansas City did sign Marquise Brown in free agency, and it also selected University of Texas wide out Xavier Worthy in the first round of the NFL Draft last week.

However, Brown is coming off of two underwhelming seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, and Worthy is obviously unproven.

The Chiefs may need to explore what’s left of the free-agent market to shore up their receiving corps.

Of course, it helps to have Patrick Mahomes under center. Mahomes was able to lead Kansas City to its second straight championship this past year in spite of having Rice and not much else at wide receiver.

But because of the Chiefs’ lack of depth at the position, it certainly wasn’t easy for Mahomes.

We’ll see if Kansas City makes any adjustments in the coming months.
