New York Jets fans got a taste of what could come during the regular season when the team played against the New York Giants in the preseason finale over the weekend. It was the first time in a long time that Aaron Rodgers participated in a preseason game, as he was out on the field with the first-team offense.

Everyone involved with the Jets had to be happy with what they saw, as Rodgers led a touchdown drive on the team’s second possession of the game. He hit Garrett Wilson for the score, a combination they are hoping to see plenty of in the coming months.

However, the most talked about thing to come from the game was a clip that went viral from Hard Knocks on HBO. During the second drive of the game, clip of Rodgers talking trash with Giants’ defensive lineman Jihad Ward surfaced.

Rodgers was not happy about what he considered a late hit being delivered by Ward, and chirped at him. Rodgers told him he didn’t even know who he was, which is a difficult quip to come back from.

Alas, the clip only shows one side of the story. Ward said that the back-and-forth began because he was unhappy with a penalty earlier in the game that was committed by wide receiver Randall Cobb. Cobb was assessed a personal foul for a blindside block on Giants’ safety Bobby McCain. McCain had to exit the game with a concussion as a result of the hit.

It was a situation that former NFL star and Jets wide receiver Kewshawn Johnson discussed during a recent episode of UNDISPUTED on FS1. Johnson did not hold back when when sharing his opinion, as he believes the Jets duo of Rodgers and Cobb were in the wrong.

“Cobb was completely in the wrong. It was completely illegal. Rodgers was wrong. Jihad Ward barely touched you,” Johnson said about the viral clip.

Johnson’s opinion is one that many people likely share. The hit that Cobb deliver was unnecessary for any game, let alone a preseason exhibition. Ward being painted in the light that he was in the clip was also not great as the entirety of the situation wasn’t shared.
