The New England Patriots are going to be a very interesting team to keep an eye on during the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
It’s a guessing game as to what unfolds at the pinnacle of the 2024 NFL Draft following USC’s Caleb Williams landing at No. 1 with the Chicago Bears.
With a plethora of top-tier quarterback talent and several teams eyeing a fresh signal-caller, mock drafts are experiencing constant upheaval. However, one draft pundit offers an intriguing perspective on the potential outcome for the No. 3 pick.
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently shared a theory forwarded to him, suggesting that the New England Patriots might favor LSU Heisman recipient Jayden Daniels over UNC’s Drake Maye.
Drawing parallels to the 2018 draft, where the Cleveland Browns opted for Baker Mayfield over Josh Allen due to preference, Jeremiah speculates that the Patriots could explore trade options if Daniels is snagged second, implying a lack of enthusiasm for Maye.
“If Jayden was there at three, the thought was ‘Okay, New England takes Jayden.’ If Jayden goes two, now all of a sudden pick three…we might be open for business.”
While Daniels and Maye have long been touted as potential selections at No. 2 and 3, the exact order remains uncertain. Should the Patriots opt for a trade-down strategy, Jeremiah points to the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings as prime candidates to move up, given their glaring quarterback uncertainties.
With the draft looming, speculation is intensifying by the day, adding an extra layer of excitement to the impending spectacle.
The New England Patriots have some tough decisions to make as the NFL Draft continues to draw closer.
