After a great start to the season, Houston Texans rookie quarterback CJ Stroud is starting to get some national attention.

Through four weeks of the NFL season, one of the nice surprises so far has been the Houston Texans. With a 2-2 record, the Texans are looking like an up-and-coming team this season, and one of the main reasons for that is the play of Stroud.

Stroud was the second overall pick out of Ohio State in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he has been tasked with being the starter right off the bat. Over the past few years, Ohio State hasn’t had the best reputation of having their quarterbacks have success at the next level, but Stroud is breaking that trend.

Recently, Boomer Esiason praised Stroud for looking like he is way ahead of the curve in the NFL.

The stats Stroud has put up so far certainly indicate that he isn’t overwhelmed by the NFL thus far. In four games, he has totaled 1,212 passing yards and six touchdown passes. What is amazing is that he has yet to throw an interception this season. In the NFL, protecting the football is key and Stroud is doing that so far.

A lot of credit has to be given to Stroud and the coaching staff of the Texans. Being a rookie quarterback in the NFL is very challenging and we generally see young quarterbacks have struggles sometimes for years. However, Stroud hasn’t had any of those problems yet and is looking like he might be a special player in the league.

For the Texans, having a quarterback like CJ Stroud is a big boost for a franchise that recently moved on from who they thought would be their franchise quarterback in Deshaun Watson. Luckily, the wait for Stroud wasn’t too long for the franchise and it will be interesting to monitor what he and the team can accomplish this season.
