The Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills will be facing off in a rematch of last year’s Divisional Round of the playoffs on Sunday night, and a whole lot is at stake.
Legendary NFL wide receiver and current Fox Sports analyst Michael Irvin likes the Bengals to defeat the Bills yet again.
Irvin likes Cincinnati in the matchup because he leans toward Joe Burrow in big games.
Burrow got off to a horrific start this season, throwing two touchdown passes and two interceptions over his first four games as he battled a calf issue that had been plaguing him since training camp. Not surprisingly, the Bengals went 1-3 in those games, and their playoff hopes appeared to be fading.
However, over the past several weeks, Burrow seems to have turned the corner, as he has totaled eight touchdowns and two picks in a three-game winning streak for Cincinnati. Burrow seems to be getting healthier and healthier as the season progresses, and last weekend, he led Cincy to a signature win over the San Francisco 49ers, and on the road, to boot.
In that win, Burrow went 28-for-32 with 283 yards and three touchdowns and looked very much like the quarterback that made the Pro Bowl last season.
The Bengals are now 4-3 and sit one-and-a-half games behind the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North, so they have vaulted themselves back into playoff contention.
Meanwhile, the Bills are 5-3 and have been one of the more inconsistent teams in the NFL over the first half of the season. They have looked thoroughly dominant for stretches, but during other stints, they have looked very beatable.
Buffalo is coming off of a Week 8 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
You can catch all of the action between the Bengals and Bills at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday evening.
