The last few weeks for the Philadelphia Eagles have been very ugly. Once looking like a juggernaut in the NFC with an NFL-best 10-1 record, the wheels have completely fallen off as they limped to the finish line in the regular season.

The Eagles lost five out of their last six games in the regular season, punctuated by a blowout at MetLife Stadium at the hands of the New York Giants in Week 18. The Giants, who were eliminated weeks ago from playoff contention, brought it right at Philadelphia from the opening whistle and it resulted in a dominant victory.

Heading into that game, there were already questions and rumors swirling about the state of the team. Those are only going to get louder as Philadelphia prepares for their Super Wild Card Weekend matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the winners of the NFC South.

Heading into the game against the Giants, the Eagles didn’t have much to play for. The NFC East title was still up for grabs, but to win it they would have needed the Dallas Cowboys to lose to the Washington Commanders. That didn’t happen, as Dallas rolled to a 38-10 win.

But, heading into Week 18, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni provided an odd quote, saying his team would “do whatever we need to do to win the game.” That is something the media has run with since, as Philadelphia looked overmatched against the Giants.

One radio host went as far as to call Sirianni ‘stupid’ during a recent episode of his show. Craig Carton, on The Carton Show, ripped into the Eagles’ head coach this week and believes his ineptitude as a coach is going to cost the team.

“Here’s the problem that you guys have to acknowledge: Nick Sirianni’s stupid. That’s the reality. That is going to cost the Philadelphia Eagles,” Carton said to co-hosts Emmanuel Acho, David Jacoby and Willie Colon.

The foursome called out the Eagles for the gameplan they put together going into the matchup, which fell woefully short. Quarterback Jalen Hurts and star wide receiver A.J. Brown were both injured in the game, pouring more salt in the wound.

As a result of how things played out, Carton called out the intelligence of Sirianni again. “Nick Sirianni might be the dumbest human being to be on an NFL sideline come mid-January,” Carton went on to say in the segment.

That is certainly not a ringing endorsement from the radio host and he surely isn’t the only person who feels that way. A quick search of the Eagles head coach on social media will present you with a ton of fans who feel the same way as Carton.

What was once an incredible season has quickly spiraled out of control and a lot of that blame is being placed on the head coach. Flaws on the team are being exposed on a weekly basis as it is hard to imagine this group being able to rally together and go on a run based on how they have performed the last month and a half on the field.
