Washington Redskins (Will Get Cam Newton)
As of now, the Washington Redskins are set on going with second-year QB Dwayne Haskins as their starter heading into the 2020-21 NFL season. While it’s fair of Ron Rivera to give Haskins a chance to right his wrongs from 2019, the newly acquired head coach must think about winning.
During his rookie season of 2019, Haskins shared the position with Case Keenum. In seven starts, Haskins passed for 1365 yards with seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 58.6 percent of his passes.
Haskins will be on a short leash. The reason for that is, the Redskins have talent at the running back and receiver positions, all that’s missing is a leader in the huddle. If Haskins struggles, then Rivera will reach out to Cam Newton. While Newton is not with a team now, the Redskins could be the call he’s waiting for.
Pairing back up with Rivera would be a smart decision. While GM’s have passed on Newton this offseason, it’s Rivera who knows and understands him best.
