Former NFL Star Issues Huge Opinion On Commanders’ Coaching Search

The Washington Commanders are currently in the midst of an extensive search for their next head coach. However, former NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson strongly believes that the ideal candidate for the job is already within the organization.

During his appearance on Up & Adams, Jackson boldly declared that Eric Bieniemy, the Commanders’ offensive coordinator, is the “clear choice” to become the team’s head coach.

Jackson expressed his surprise that Bieniemy had not already been appointed as a head coach last year and instead assumed the role of offensive coordinator for the Commanders.

“I know they really struggled last year but he needs a quarterback that can go in there and help him out. If he gets a quarterback in there and a few more players… (he can work).”

Before joining the Commanders, Bieniemy held the position of offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs. However, his aspirations to secure a head coaching position went unfulfilled, leading him to accept the role of offensive coordinator for Washington.

The Commanders had a challenging season, finishing with a disappointing 4-13 record, accompanied by a subpar offense that ranked among the bottom 10 in the league. Second-year quarterback Sam Howell struggled throughout the season, contributing to the team’s middling offensive performance.

It is undeniable that Eric Bieniemy’s tenure as offensive coordinator may have left some doubts, not only within the Commanders organization but also among other NFL teams, given the team’s performance this past year.
