Heading into their Week 7 Monday night matchup with the Minnesota Vikings, the San Francisco 49ers undoubtedly look like one of the best teams in the NFL.

They are 5-1, they rank fifth in the league in offense, third in defense and have one of the deepest rosters in football top to bottom.

As a result, many have the 49ers pegged as Super Bowl favorites thus far in 2023.

However, Rucker Haringey of FanSided seems some issues with the team this season and thinks those problems could prevent San Francisco from winning its first Super Bowl in almost 30 years.

He mentions the jury still being out on quarterback Brock Purdy, running back Christian McCaffrey’s durability and defensive lineman Nick Bosa not having enough help as reasons why the Niners may not even make it to the Super Bowl in February.

All three of these concerns are entirely valid.

While the 49ers have been terrific in most facets defensively this season, they have not been great at getting to the quarterback, totaling just 15 sacks over their first six games. Even Bosa has been largely held in check, entering Week 7 with 2.5 sacks thus far.

McCaffrey is expected to play against the Vikings, but he is dealing with an oblique injury he suffered last week in a loss to the Cleveland Browns. Between 2020 and 2021, the 27-year-old played in 10 games total, so his massive workload in San Francisco could pose problems further down the line.

Finally, Purdy shined over his first 10 career regular-season starts, going undefeated. But in Week 6 against an elite Browns defense, the second-year signal-caller went just 12-for-27 with 125 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a dreadful performance.

While Purdy has mostly looked very impressive in the early stages of his career, there are still some tests he needs to pass.
