NFL Writer Suggests Massive Eagles Trade For Derrick Henry

Could the Derrick Henry era be coming to a close with the Tennessee Titans? Rumblings are running rampant that he could be traded and a team to watch may be the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Titans are just 2-4 this season and are two games behind the Jacksonville Jaguars for first place in the AFC South. They have not resembled anything close to contenders, and with the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline looming, they could move some pieces in the next couple of weeks.

Henry could end up being one of those pieces, and Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay sees the Eagles as a potential landing spot.

While the Eagles have gotten some rather surprising production from running back D’Andre Swift this season, he has tailed off in recent weeks and ran the ball 10 times for just 18 yards in a Week 6 loss to the New York Jets this past Sunday.

The bulk of Swift’s production came back in Weeks 2 and 3, when he racked up 305 rushing yards over the course of two games.

Philadelphia could certainly use another halfback to pair with Swift, as Kenneth Gainwell has not exactly gotten the job done.

Kay suggests that Philly could send fellow running back Boston Scott, a 2024 second-round draft pick and a fifth-rounder to Tennessee in exchange for Henry.

While Henry may no longer be the same 2,000-yard back from a few years ago, he remains a reliable bell cow who has totaled 425 yards and three touchdowns while logging 4.3 yards per carry in 2023.

The 29-year-old would instantly improve the Eagles’ offense, which has seen its fair share of struggles over the first six weeks of the season in spite of the club’s 5-1 record.

Derrick Henry is in the final year of his deal, so the Titans may want to trade him now in order to recoup some value for him before he walks via free agency in the spring.
