Packers Coach Reveals Christian Watson Injury Update Before Week 14

Christian Watson, Packers

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson was really finding his stride in the last few games. He had the best game of his season on Thanksgiving against the Detroit Lions, catching five passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. He started that game off with a bang, catching a 53-yard pass on the first play from scrimmage and then an eight-yard pass on the following play.

The positive momentum started in that game was carried over in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Watson was having another great performance, catching seven passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns. He was helping ice the game away with an end-around rush in the fourth quarter, but that is where his positive momentum came to a screeching halt.

After gaining the first down, Watson came up lame, grabbing at his hamstring. It was an image that Packers fans have seen all too often as Watson has battled a ton of injuries since being a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Watson started the season sidelined by a hamstring injury, which cost him the first three games of the campaign. Hopefully, he is able to return quickly this time around, but Packers head coach Matt LaFleur didn’t offer too positive of an update on the situation.

NFL News & Rumors: Christian Watson & Green Bay Packers Updates

“Hopefully it’ll be sooner rather than later,” LaFleur said, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. LaFleur admitted that a clear idea of how long Watson will be sidelined for has not been provided.

That is a tough break for Watson and the Packers. He has caught a touchdown in three straight games and his good health was a big reason that the offense as a whole was beginning to take off. This has been the case for Green Bay all season, as they cannot get their entire group of skill position players around Jordan Love healthy at the same time.

For as long as Watson is sidelined, expect the team to turn to Romeo Doubs and rookie Dontayvion Wicks to fill the void. We could also see more of undrafted rookie Malik Heath, who has seen his playing time increase during the team’s winning streak.
