Heading into Week 14, the Green Bay Packers were one of the hottest teams in the NFL. They had won three games in a row, improving their record to 6-6 on the season and were sitting in seventh place in the NFC, holding onto the last Wild Card spot.

Their winning streak was going to be put on the line on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. It was a big game for the Packers, who could solidify their place in the standings with a victory.

According to writer Anthony Nash, the Packers’ playoff chances with a victory over the Giants would have been 80 percent. Unfortunately, that opportunity was not taken advantage of, as Green Bay lost on the road, 24-22.

After Jordan Love drove the team down the field for a go-ahead touchdown with 1:33 remaining in the game, the Packers defense was unable to get a stop against Tommy DeVito and the Giants’ offense. They drove right down the field, as Randy Bullock knocked a 37-yard field goal through the uprights as time expired to get the Giants the upset victory.

With the loss, the Packers saw their playoff odds drop drastically. Now 6-7 on the season, their odds of making the postseason, according to Nash, sit at only 53 percent.

Losing to the Giants was a crushing blow. But, it was not a kill shot for the Packers, who could see their playoff chances brought back to life in Week 15 when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field.

NFL News & Rumors: New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneer,s Green Bay Packers Updates

Per Nash, a loss to Tampa Bay will pretty much cook their chances of making the playoffs. But, should get pull off the win, the Packers’ playoff odds will jump up to 70 percent. Tampa Bay enters the game with a 6-7 record themselves and they will be motivated to win with a chance still existing for them to win the NFC South.

There will be some scoreboard watching being done as the Packers will be rooting for the Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders to defeat other teams right on their heels in the Wild Card race.
