The Green Bay Packers are committed to Jordan Love as their starter for the 2023 season after trading Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. But, it would not be surprising if they weren’t done adding players to the position this offseason.

As things currently stand, Love is the only quarterback on the roster that has thrown a pass during the regular season, let alone started a game. 2018 seventh-round pick Danny Etling is battling it out with 2023 fifth-round pick Sean Clifford for the backup quarterback job behind Love.

It would be a surprise if the Packers went into the regular season with such little experience on their roster at the most important position in the game. Whether it is via free agency or a trade, Green Bay should look into bringing in a veteran quarterback.

One player that could pique their interest is Ryan Tannehill of the Tennessee Titans. Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports named the Packers as one of the logical landing spots for Tannehill should the Titans look to move on from him.

“Tannehill is more likely to sit tight as a placeholder in Tennessee on the final year of his contract, but at a steep salary, with the Titans just trading up to draft Will Levis at No. 33 overall, it’s very possible the team could solicit offers for its incumbent starter. Coach Mike Vrabel hasn’t committed to Tannehill being on the roster come Week 1, and while the Titans would certainly be more likely to contend for another playoff run if he stays, it’s clear new general manager Ran Carthon is thinking about the future.”

Embarking on a rebuild of their own after trading up and selecting Will Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Titans could move on from their incumbent starter. Nothing is off the table in Tennessee as they start to remake the roster in Carthon’s vision for the team.

Tannehill wouldn’t have the opportunity to start in Green Bay with Love there, but he would be the clear-cut backup. Should anything happen to Love, the Packers’ season would be over on the spot; having someone such as Tannehill to turn to in the unfortunate event Love has to miss time would keep them afloat.

Tannehill would also be a good mentor for Love to learn from. Being the most experienced quarterback on the roster despite having one career start would put him in a tough spot. Having someone that could have gone through similar experiences to lean on would help his development.
