The 2022 season was a breakout one for Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard. After spending the first three seasons as a backup to Ezekiel Elliott, he saw his role increase to more of an even split and took full advantage.

Tony Pollard put up career highs across the board, which resulted in the first Pro Bowl nomination of his career. He carried the ball 193 times for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns, providing more explosiveness than Elliott has in years.

His dual-threat abilities were also on full display as he caught 39 passes for 371 yards and three more scores. Tony Pollard was actually labeled as a wide receiver for seasons at Memphis in college, so it was nice to see the Cowboys start to really take advantage of his pass-catching skills in recent seasons.

Tony Pollard’s 2022 campaign ended on a low note, as he suffered a gruesome lower leg injury in the team’s Divisional Round matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Luckily for him and the team, his rehab went well enough that he was able to return to the field this offseason in preparation for the 2023 season.

The Memphis product will be playing this season out on the franchise tag tender worth just about $10.1 million. Tony Pollard was one of the star running backs who felt the dip of the market as no long-term deal was agreed upon.

But, if he can approach the stats that PFF has predicted he will produce in 2023, he is going to put himself in a position for a nice payday once again. PFF is projecting him to have another monster season, improving upon his 2022 breakout numbers. 1,293 yards and eight rushing touchdowns to go along with 364 receiving yards and two more scores is what PFF has projected.

Those are numbers that will not only make the Cowboys happy but any Fantasy Football manager that selects the star running back in their draft as well. Well over 1,600 total yards with 10 touchdowns is top-of-the-line production, as Tony Pollard will prove the front office right about moving on from Ezekiel Elliott.
