Eagles’ Jalen Hurts Tied Massive NFL Record In Week 15

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts didn’t exactly have his best showing in the Eagles’ Monday night loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but he did manage to achieve one major feat in the process.

By scoring his 13th and 14th rushing touchdowns of the year, Hurts tied Cam Newton for the most rushing scores by a quarterback in a single season (h/t John Clark of NBC Sports Philly).

Hurts still has three games left to break the record, so, more than likely, he will sit atop the list by the end of the regular season.

Hurts went 17-for-31 with 143 yards and a couple of interceptions while carrying the ball 13 times for 82 yards and those two touchdowns.

The 25-year-old was playing through flu-like symptoms, so Hurts’ health may have certainly had an impact on his shoddy performance as a whole.

That being said, Hurts has struggled in general the past couple of weeks, as he has not thrown a passing touchdown since Week 13 and has not registered a passer rating of 90 or above since Week 12.

On the season overall, Hurts has thrown for 3,335 yards, 19 touchdowns and 12 picks while completing 65.7 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 89.9. He has also rushed for 542 yards while averaging 3.9 yards per carry.

Hurts, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama and the University of Oklahoma, was selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He became Philadelphia’s full-time starter under center in 2021, finishing with 3,144 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine picks while completing 61.3 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 87.2. In addition, he rushed for 784 yards and 10 scores.

Then, last year, Jalen Hurts finished second in MVP voting after totaling 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 66.5 percent of his passes and recording a passer rating of 101.5. Plus, he racked up 760 yards while reaching the end zone 13 times on the ground.

Philly has lost three games in a row to fall to 10-4. It will take on the New York Giants on Christmas Day.
