Philadelphia Eagles’ New Addition Could Signal Future Big Move

As we enter the NFL offseason, it’s worth catching up on the latest developments for the Philadelphia Eagles.

In a move that initially appeared to be a steal, the Eagles secured Haason Reddick with a three-year, $45 million contract on March 16th, 2022. Fast forward nearly two years, and it’s becoming increasingly evident that Reddick, a Philly native, may be outperforming his current deal.

Despite playing under the terms of his existing contract last season, there were signs that Reddick wasn’t entirely satisfied. Speculation suggests that he and his agent have been exploring options for an extension.

On Super Bowl Sunday, Philadelphia granted them permission to seek a trade. While many, ourselves included, believe retaining Reddick would be wise, the possibility of acquiring another edge rusher could hint at impending changes.

Enter Julian Okwara, a formidable presence standing at six-foot-four and weighing 239 pounds. Drafted in the third round by the Detroit Lions in 2020, Okwara boasts 54 tackles, nine sacks, and an interception across 38 career games, with four starts.

While not yet reaching the heights of Reddick’s Pro-Bowl status, Okwara could offer valuable depth to address the Eagles’ defensive needs if Reddick departs.

This potential move prompts speculation and debate. Are we reading too much into the situation, or is there substance to the notion of Reddick’s departure? Regardless, it’s a topic that will fuel discussions as we progress through the offseason and towards the NFL Scouting Combine.
