As the Dallas Cowboys gear up for a pivotal season, both head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott find themselves in contract years, intensifying the pressure to deliver results. Owner Jerry Jones has set high expectations for the team, emphasizing the need for improvement.

Despite a quiet free agency period where the Cowboys refrained from significant moves, Jones emphasized the importance of the upcoming draft during a recent press conference, as shared by Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken.

“We’re all in with these young guys coming in. We’re all in with this draft.”

Jones’ message was clear and direct, leaving no room for interpretation: the Cowboys must perform better this season.

During free agency, the team opted not to make major splashes, allowing several key players to depart, including Dorance Armstrong, Tyler Biadasz, Tyron Smith, Tony Pollard, and Dante Fowler Jr. The most notable addition was Eric Kendricks, signed to a one-year, $3 million deal.

With the free agency period being relatively quiet for the Cowboys, the focus now shifts to the draft to address roster needs. Despite lacking a fourth-round pick, the team possesses an additional selection in the seventh round to bolster depth.

As the 24th pick approaches, the Cowboys have various areas to consider addressing, with left tackle and wide receiver emerging as potential areas for improvement. However, predicting the team’s draft strategy remains uncertain, as the Cowboys have been known to keep their intentions closely guarded.

All of that being said, we’ll have to wait and see what Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have in mind in the 2024 NFL Draft. Thursday night can’t get here soon enough.
